Name:Crow Hogan (Anthro AU)
Birthdate:Jan 1
AU Crow Hogan of Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds.

Crow's world is inhabited entirely by animals--no humans whatsoever--and all animals hold sapience. What does that mean?

Means murder is only a crime if you don't eat your meal that's what. Between food pyramids and 'trans-dietary surgery' options, the world's a messy place. But hey, to him it's normal you know?

Below are a few headcanon points and bits of info on Crow himself. As for his Signer mark? it does indeed show up along a small spot on his wing...

Dueling? There's a clip on the disk to hold his hand of cards, so he doesn't have to go through the entire thing on one foot.

Oh and PS--HE'S STILL FIVE FEET TALL. Most animals in the AU are anthropomorphized; birds, fish, and snakes are by far the least affected in comparison.

---------------

As a Chestnut-Capped Blackbird, Crow’s ‘red feathers’ should be more reddish, but he apparently got a rare gene or something. The feathers on his chest stand out so brightly against the rest of him, that when he has a vest on, it looks as though he’s wearing an orange shirt.

Blackbirds such as these are partial insectivores, additionally eating seeds, nuts, and berries. This made him the only member of Team Satisfaction who didn’t eat meat.

- Part of how he made up for that was, despite initial protests from Jack and Yuusei, by acting as bait; when he could still fly, he would often deliberately fly over, or alight near predators, pretending to be injured. These were typically stoats, or small carnivores--which made it rather easy for the others to launch their own attack.

- When Crow has his Duel Disk with him, he can’t--rather, couldn’t, chance flying. This is because it unbalanced his wings, leading him to risk crashing.

- He wears ‘gloves’ over his feet, as they allow him the flexibility needed to perch, as well as drive a D-Wheel; bikes made for birds combined the pedals with the handles, as their wings cannot even hold or draw cards let alone operate a D-Wheel in the same way as most others.

- Despite being classified as a ‘small bird’, he’s only a few inches shorter than Yuusei.

- Many of the little birds he looked after in Satellite fed exclusively on nuts and berries, so he gave them whatever he found, eating mainly insects instead during that time. As a result, he’s more inclined to go after insects than nuts or berries when it comes to eating.

- When Mikage and Ushio attempted to bribe him and the others into looking after Bruno, the meals were: a plate of buffalo, a plate of steak, and in Crow’s case, a large pill millipede (otherwise known as the Potato Bug), accompanied by red-berries.

By the time he realized why Mikage and Ushio were treating him however, he’d already swallowed the whole thing-!

- Every time Crow was arrested, his wings were clipped down. However, after his last arrest, they went one step further, and pinioned him--this means they removed the farthest joint of his wings, preventing the growth of the feathers he needed to fly. This is an additional part of why he tried so hard to modify the Blackbird to fly instead; in fact, when it glides, he has the habit of holding his wings out, and pretending he’s the one flying instead.

He’s made very sure the same thing never happens to any of the kids; by the end of the series, every one of them are able to fly in fact!

- Crow was fortunate enough to be taught a number of techniques during the Team Satisfaction years, as well as when Pearson was alive, for when his feathers were clipped down. He’s quite agile, able to jump much farther than expected of a small bird, giving him quite the advantage when other animals attempt to attack the ‘injured bird’ now.

- During the ‘boar mobbing’ of the WRGP Opening Party, he wound up munching a grasshopper from the sidelines and shaking his head. Another party go-er actually attempted to take him out, given the ruined meat table, but after Crow retaliated the rest of the hungry guests turned on the would be attacker instead.

Oops.

He decided it’d be safer to perch outside for the remainder of the party.

- Crow was taught to modify D-Wheels for ‘avian compatibility’ by Pearson; the crocodile was quite fond of birds, and by the time he had died managed to share almost all he knew and developed with Crow. …Almost.

- Yuusei is secretly working on some way to allow Crow to fly again.

- During the end-series time skip, part of how Crow managed to join the police was because those against it assumed he’d be eaten quickly enough, while those for it were interested in seeing how the same techniques that so often thwarted them (even after his wings were pinioned!), thwarted criminals instead. It worked quite well, actually.

- Though he doesn’t have earrings, he does actually have some equivalent; the end of the ‘gloves’ on his legs are held up by pins resembling the earrings.

- Crow’s riding suit is quite minimal compared to the others; his wings, rather than being covered in sleeves, are covered by flaps created as part of the uniform. His legs in the meantime have a more glove-based fabric than boot fabric, again for the sake of flexibility.

- When Crow is riding the Blackbird, it looks as though he’s curling in to dive; it looks uncomfortable, but he insists it really isn’t!

- Crow’s helmet seems to have less of an eye-shield and more of a set of built-in goggles, due to his beak.

- Despite being an insectivore, he’s eaten ramen numerous times prior; after an incident with beef ramen which left him ill however, this is restricted to vegetable based ramen.

- Being a bird, his sense of smell is utter crap.

His vision is okay though.

- When he was falling in the battle against Rex Godwin, he had a moment where he thought he was able to fly again.

He wasn’t flying, he’d just been caught by the twins.

- Part of the reason he pursues Jaeger so persistently before dueling him in Satellite is not only because of the Dark Signers, but also because Jaeger’s species eats small birds; in other words, Crow’s children could have been at risk.

- When Crow returned to find his kids gone, his first thought was that something had eaten them- the only thing which assured him otherwise, was the absence of blood or shed feathers.

- It’s entirely likely that if he hadn’t threatened to blow up the track and D-Wheels, Bommer would have simply made Crow a ‘snack’ before driving off in search of others to duel.
